Paintings & drawings
My God! It's now over a decade since I graduated from St. Martins School of Art with a BA Hons Fine Art degree in Painting and Drawing, harbouring a romantic notion of immediately becoming a critically and commercially successful painter. I guess I got sidetracked somewhat. Still one day, one day.....
I haven't be particularly careful in keeping or cataloguing my work so below represents a very small selection of my work from the last decade and a half!
These two drawings are taken from one my sketchbooks.
I loved painting portraits, but getting people to committ to long sittings, particularly fellow students, was not always easy. I spent the last year of my degree producing a number of self portraits. It's a theme I have returned to on numerous occassions since. I have never found it easy to look at oneself in the mirror for hours on end trying to capture something more than a likeness. I guess having a sense of humour helped.
